The Canary Islands are distinguished for their gay-friendly attitude, which is only natural, since they are located in Spain, one of the most liberal and gay-friendly countries in the world! The locals are very friendly, while you will see that gay couples are free to express themselves even in public, without any taboos!

The best time to visit Canary islands depends mainly on your own preferences. The busiest periods, and when you are going to find the most gay travelers, are during the Gay Pride at the first or second week of May, during the big Carnival in February or March and during August but the weather is very hot during that time of the year!

If you are not interested in partying, then you should visit the Canary Islands during Easter, Christmas and New Year's Eve, when the island is quieter. In general, May, June, September and the first half of October are quiet months, so you will most probably find better deals, while the weather is much, much better!

Playa del Ingles hosts one of the most popular Gay Prides in Europe, taking place during May. The Carnival is also another popular event held in all the islands, even though it doesn’t have a gay character. During this event, women are dressed up like men and vice versa, composing an entertaining and very gay friendly atmosphere.
