Zermatt Gay Guide

A guide to help you find the best hotels & places in Zermatt for Gay travellers

MADE BY TBI HOTEL EXPERTS

Gay Zermatt Travel Guide | The Luxurious Swiss Ski Destination!

Zermatt, in southern Switzerland’s Valais canton, is one of the most popular skiing villages in the country, offering outstanding skiing opportunities on its steep valleys. The town is big in the tourism industry, with about half of the jobs in hotels or restaurants, and half the apartments are for vacations only. The location is fairly gay friendly in the sense that everyone minds their own business and go to enjoy their vacation. Because it's such a small and isolated town, it's tough to meet new gays there especially since there are no clubs or places to meet. However, this place is great for couples, as you get to spend a get away with the one you love, while exploring the mountains together. The gay locals are few but also friendly, and the best period to visit is in the winter to ski and have fun on the mountains. Our amazing Hotel Collections will give you the right inspiration for this destination!

The best places to visit in Zermatt for Gay Travellers

Even though there aren't gay-specific activities, gay couples and members of the community can visit Zermatt and have fun with the activities that make it such a tourist hot spot. The famous mountain, The Matterhorn, is as jagged and clear as Mount Fuji. Trying to climb this mountain is a bad idea unless you are an experienced professional. However, there are many vantage points you should check out. The Klein Matterhorn is the next peak along the Matterhorn and you can get up it on an aerial tramway, the highest location in Europe accessible by tram. The top has the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise with a tunnel to the Breithorn Plateau, which are simply breathtaking. Breithorn is a climbable mountain at 4,000m high. You need a mountain guide and the air is thin but the hike is relatively easy and the views are worth it. Gornergrat is an excursion in Zermatt, the highest open-air rack railway in Europe. There is a shuttle that takes you to the observation platform at Gornergrat for another beautiful view. Rothorn is a mountain journey done by funicular that takes you up through the centre of the mountain, then a gondola that takes you to Blauherd, then a cable car takes you to the top of Unterrothorn with a retaurant at the summit. In the summer, some individuals paraglide from this point. Zermatt Village is a car-free neighbourhood/village center with beautiful village history. Zermatlantis Matterhorn Museum answers all questions about the wonder of the Matterhorn, with galleries arranged like a traditional Alpine village. Mountaineers' Cemetery is a place where many individuals who try to climb the peak have been lay to rest. Gorner Gorge is a famous land form that descends instead of rising like the rest of the village. You can navigate the gorge by food, with wooden footbridges placed around giving stunning perspectives on the rock and waters below. Sunnegga is a beautiful lookout point that can be reached by funicular. There is also tons of Alps wildlife on a trail in the area. The Village of Findeln is a village made up of farmhouses and a chapel for those looking to wander around a village. Schwarzsee is the "Black Lake" as there's a dark surface reflecting the dark rock around it. Forest Fun Park is a tree-top rope course and adventure park for those looking for a fun way to climb around the mountains.
