Mangú
“Mangú” is a staple Dominican food that is made by boiling green plaintains and mashing them with sauteed red onions. Sometimes, they are served with eggs or avocados. The name "mangu" originated when the Americans invaded the Dominican Republic in 1916.
La Bandera
La Bandera loosely translates to meaning "the flag", and is made up of white rice, stewed beans and stewed or roasted chicken or beef. Sancocho
Sancocho is a Dominica comfort food similar to the American version of chicken noodle soup. Moro de habichuelas (or de guandules)
Moro de habichuelas (or de guandules), otherwise known as rice with beans, is a very common dish in the Dominican Republic. The rice can be cooked with black or red kidney beans and is often tossed with oregano, onions, bell peppers, garlic and peas.
