Mykonos Gay Guide

Mykonos is the most popular gay island in Europe, and maybe in the world, being visited by more than 10.000 gay travelers every year. The island is distinguished by its gay-friendly attitude, and, here, we should note that straight acceptance is at pretty high levels as well. Gay Marriage might not be legalized in Greece, however, Mykonos is a great destination to celebrate your gay wedding!

The best period to visit Mykonos is from early June to late September. The island gets very crowded during the summer months, especially, in August, when one of the most popular gay Greek events takes place, XLsior. If you want to avoid big crowds, but still enjoy the sunny island of Mykonos, we recommend you to visit it from Late May to Mid July. Mykonos is a great place to meet gay Greeks as well!

There are currently two gay hotels in Mykonos. The first one is Elysium Hotel, which you might have heard about before, known for the excellent drag shows, as well as its ideal location to watch the sunset during the evening while drinking your personalised cocktail. Geranium Gay Luxury Hotel is the 2nd gay hotel in Mykonos, and it's characterised as the premium hotel for gay travelers of Mykonos!

There are many gay bars in Mykonos, all of which are located in Mykonos' Chora. What makes them stand out from the regular gay bars is that they have preserved the unique Cycladic character, giving you a more local experience. Some of the most popular gay bars on the island are Jackie O', Babylon Bar, Porta Bar, Gay Sunset Bar at Elysium, Katerina's Bar and Restaurant, and LOLA Mykonos!

Some of the most popular gay beaches in Greece are actually located in Mykonos, and they are called Elia Beach and Jackie O’ Beach (Super Paradise). These beaches are literally crowded during the summer months, while you will notice there is cruising going on nearby them. If you prefer less crowded gay beaches, then you should head to Agrari Beach!

The renowned gay festival XLSIOR happens every August and it's currently the hottest Gay party in the Mediterranean. Men from Greece, Europe & all over the world, gather to have fun, meet, dance & spend the most exciting time! The Festival includes many gay events and parties scattered through the week it takes place. The gay bars and clubs of the island host various themed nights every summer!
