In Swiss cuisine you can find influences from neighboring cultures such as the German, French and Italian. However, there is a great variety depending on the region and the language barrier of the area. Some of the most basic food items are bread, dairy products such as milk, yogurt, butter and a great variety of the world famous Swiss cheese. Vegetables, and more specifically beans, carrots, cauliflower, potatoes, spinach also play a big role in the Swiss diet.
