Tallinn is a destination that surely has not received the publicity that it deserves, which is not necessary bad, since it has managed to preserve its warm Christmas atmosphere up until today. The old churches, the Baroque buildings, the cobbled streets and the colorful rooftops make the city look like a commercial postcard.

☃  Tallinn was actually the home of the first Christmas Tree put on display in Europe, in 1441, at the Town Hall Square. There is a Christmas Market organised every year which actually revolves around the Christmas tree.

Located at the borders of Germany with Austria, Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden is definitely a region that you would never think of visiting for Christmas. It's ideal to visit if you want to get away from all the crowded cities and towns, and relax in the countryside, enjoying the Christmas spirit. What makes the area differ from any other similar destination, is none other than the breathtaking Hintersee Lake!

☃  There is not a better experience than creating your own snow-man at the shore of Hintersee Lake!

Taos, New Mexico

Taos has been previously selected as one of the best destinations for Christmas vacations,  it has managed however, to keep its alternative character nonetheless. Yuletide is actually the name of the events taking place throughout the season of Christmas, Thanksgiving through New Years, at the Historical District of Taos and the surrounding areas

The scenery of the snow on the candle-lit farolitos lining at the streets of the town is truly stunning.

Reykjavik might not be the most uncommon destination to visit during Christmas, but it's definitely a unique one. The city is usually dressed in white during December, while the Christmas decorations in the streets seem like jewelries. There is a wide range of Christmas markets in the city, but the Ingolfstorg ice rink,  is the attraction that steals the show.

☃   The sky during New Year's Eve is literally lit on fire from the fireworks. The majority of the locals choose to party at their own homes, so the majority night entertainment venues are.
