Guests are the most important part of a party, as the success of it, depends highly on them. It’s always a good idea to have in mind the approximate number of people you’re going to expect and inform them as soon as possible! Make sure you haven’t left out anybody important!

If your party has a specific theme or a particular colour scheme, then it would be a great idea to print out special invitations, explaining guests what they should wear or what they should bring along.

A bright idea would be to give your New Year’s Eve party character! Choose a theme and add some more fun to the night, entertaining your guests! You can choose to have a Masquerade Ball theme party, and have your guests guess who is who, or throw a Glitter theme one, because it’s New Year’s Eve and there is no such thing as too much glitter! Don’t forget the Christmas lights, the party hats and of course the confetti.

For safety reasons, remove all your fragile things and valuable objects from the room. And if you’re planning on showing your dance moves, then you must consider making sufficient space, or turn a whole room into a dance floor.

 Food & Drinks

Snacks and finger food is the best way to keep most of your guests satisfied, especially if you expect a large group of people coming different hours. Bruschetta, Gingered Nuts, Bacon-Wrapped Potatoes, Marinated Olives, Fried Mozzarella, Prosciutto Crisps, Cheese Truffles, Pizza Sticks and Mini Cupcakes are some few ideas of easy-to-pick-up foods and the perfect way to start a party.

If you want to serve alcohol, big punch bowls is the most suitable way of doing it, without having to serve each one individually. It is better to keep your bar well-stocked. Wine and champagne are a must for a New Year’s Eve party, and don’t forget to buy some non-alcoholic drinks for your non-drinking guests and drivers.

As a party host, you want everything to work out exactly as you planned it, but be careful not to stress out about it too much! Relax and enjoy the company of your guests, because they have come to spend time with you.

If you are not thinking of hiring a DJ, then it is a good idea to plan your music playlist before the party starts, so to keep people active. You should consider all ages and tastes, and make sure that the music doesn't disappoint anyone. Mix things up and keep your guests surprised!

Bring people together and break the ice between guests who don’t know each other by playing some party games. Such games can be vital for the success of your party, as they can create hours of fun! Christmas Pictionary, Christmas movie trivia, Charades, Two Truths and a Lie, Scavenger Hunt, Card games, Musical Chairs are some game options you can choose, in order to entertain your guests.

Hospitality

After all the celebrations and fun, don’t be surprised if some of your guests can't get home! As a host, you should be prepared for a situation like this and never allow anyone to drive home drunk.

For everyone’s protection, have a sober person drive people home, or call a taxi for them, but be ready to pay double or triple the normal rate. If none of the choices above is possible, then let people sleep in your place.
